Note from the Author: It was a pleasant surprise to get a request mail from my publisher for second edition of the book just after one year of its publication. Since its first publication, I was showered with blessings, appreciations and some constructive criticisms. I sincerely acknowledge your suggestions and convey my gratitude for such a warm acceptance. One very important lacuna of the first edition was non-inclusion of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). So, this time I have chosen additional ten topics including PvPI. In second edition my work has been made easy by my colleagues, Dr. Biswa Mohan Padhy and Dr. Somnath Mukherjee. Being a clinical pharmacologist and having several years of experience at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Padhy's contribution to the second edition of this book is really an asset. Similarly, with expertise in transfusion medicine from PGIMER, Chandigarh, I found Dr. Mukherjee to be the best person to write a chapter on Haemovigilance. In this edition also, I have followed the philosophy of keeping the chapters short, comprehensive and examination oriented. I earnestly request my readers to give specific feedback (rituparnamaiti@gmail.com) about the content, so that I can revisit the selective chapters and modify accordingly. Dr. Rituparna Maiti Key Features • Probably the first book in the market containing readymade notes on some important topics in Pharmacology for postgraduate students. • Saves time and energy of the postgraduate students. • The book can be mainly useful to the pharmacology students of MD, MSc. & M.Pharm courses. • All the chapters are written in a pointwise and comprehensive manner, so that the students can find it easy to read and reproduce the subject in the examination. • The book can help the students to develop basic concepts in clinical pharmacology and allied branches. • Figures, flowcharts, tables are provided wherever required, for easy understanding of the subject.
